Welcome to the ECC Small Business Center (SBC) LibGuide



The Edgecombe Community College Small Business Center is part of a statewide network designed to promote and support small business ownership and create new jobs. The Small Business Center offers no-cost seminars, workshops and panel discussions designed to assist prospective small business owners develop their ideas into realities, and to expand the knowledge of all business owners, managers and employees that will lead to growth, prosperity and new jobs. In addition, free, confidential one-on-one counseling is provided during regular office hours or by appointment at both the Tarboro and Rocky Mount campuses.

The SBC will offer three separate programs for Fall 2012. The first, the Small Business Development Series, is designed primarily for those individuals who either have a new business idea or are just beginning to think about starting their own business, and are looking for ideas and guidance. The second, the Leadership Development Series, is designed for anyone - - owner, manager or employee - - - who wants to develop their management and supervisory skills, and become an effective leader.. The third program, the REAL Entrepreneur Academy Certificate Program, is for those individuals who are really serious about planning for success, and are willing to make a commitment to make it happen. 

A special program, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, is also administered through the ECC Small Business Center. GATE, or “Growing America Through Entrepreneurship” is a scholarship program that provides training and coaching to help laid-off, or dislocated, workers interested in starting a business.

A Small Business Resource Center is available in the Tarboro campus library. The resource center includes periodicals, books, tapes, and other valuable information for the small business person. In addition, business planning software and access to personal computer systems with Internet connection is available for clients who wish to conduct research or develop a business plan on their own. All services provided by the Small Business Center are FREE.
